This presentation will discuss observed and forecasted rainfall patterns in Iowa and how a small community is adapting its stormwater program to meet the challenges of a changing climate.

Pollutant treatment and runoff reduction results are collated from a coordinated, regional BMP monitoring program run by the Southern California Stormwater Monitoring Coalition are presented. Thsi presentation presents field monitoring data from 13 biofilters for ~70 water quality sampling events and ~100 flow monitoring events that are analyzed for a regional perspective on biofilter performance. Analytes include conventional pollutants (sediment, nutrients, and heavy metals), fecal indicator bacteria, and microplastics. Specific opportunities to improve media design and pre-construction materials testing are identified in order to better achieve water quality treatment goals.
