Event Description

Speakers:
Josh Burch, District of Columbia DOEE

Trying to naturalize a stream channel presently in a concrete channel within 100-year floodplain presents challenges for public safety, tree canopy, infrastructure, park space utilization, project costs, and more. This presentation will explore the importance of finding ways to turn competing interests into complementary interests in a large scale and multi-jurisdictional stream restoration project. The Oxon Run Stream Restoration project is a complex stream restoration project that presents as many challenges as it does opportunities.

Ben Uhler, Landstudies
“Floodplain Restoration as a Stormwater BMP”
